Beats 360 vs Studio Pro: The Upgrade That Changes Everything

Beats has launched the Beats 360, promising better noise cancellation, sound, and comfort than the Studio Pro. We compare the specs to see if it's worth the upgrade.

Beats just dropped a new pair of headphones, and they're calling it the Beats 360. With promises of the best noise cancellation, sound, and comfort the brand has ever delivered, it's hard not to get excited. But how does it stack up against the well-regarded Beats Studio Pro? We compared the specs to find out. ### Price and Availability The Beats 360 is available now for $349.95. It comes in four colors: Sky, Cloud, Pink, and Black, with matching earcup and headband cushions. You can also buy Cushion Kits separately to change up the look. Right now, they're just $11.95 from Apple, but that price will jump to $59.95 later. Meanwhile, the Beats Studio Pro has dropped to $299.95. ### Noise Cancellation: 1.75x Better? Beats claims the 360 offers 1.75x better active noise cancellation (ANC) than the Studio Pro. That's a bold statement, considering the Studio Pro already impressed us with its ability to block out ambient noise and public transport sounds. The 360 also has a Transparency mode, which lets in outside noise when you need it. We'll have to test if the 360 truly delivers on that promise, but if it does, it could be a game-changer for frequent flyers and commuters. ### Customizable Cushions One of the coolest features of the Beats 360 is the ability to swap out the earcup and headband cushions. While the Studio Pro comes in four colors (Black, Deep Brown, Navy, and Sandstone), the 360 offers a more vibrant palette out of the box. But the real fun is in the Cushion Kits: you can choose from knit options in six colors (Black, Cloud, Pink, Sky, Navy, and Volt) or UltraPlush kits in Black and Cloud. The UltraPlush uses the same engineered leather as the Studio Pro, so you know it's comfortable. ### IPX4 Rating: Sweat and Rain Resistant The Beats 360 is the first over-ear headphone from Beats to earn an IPX4 rating. That means it can handle splashes, rain, and sweat without missing a beat. So whether you're caught in a downpour or working up a sweat during a workout, these headphones should survive. ### Wireless-First Design The 360 features a wireless-first design that moves the battery and chip into each earcup, eliminating the need for wires in the headband. This makes the headphones lighter and more comfortable. The Studio Pro is no slouch in the comfort department, but our reviewer did note that the earpads were slightly too firm. The 360's redesign might just fix that. > The Beats 360 isn't just an incremental update; it's a rethinking of what over-ear headphones can be. ### The Verdict On paper, the Beats 360 looks like a significant upgrade over the Studio Pro. With better ANC, customizable cushions, water resistance, and a lighter design, it's positioned to be a top contender in the premium headphone market. But specs only tell part of the story. We'll reserve final judgment until we get our hands on a pair for a full review. For now, if you're in the market for new headphones, the 360 is definitely worth considering.
