If you've been circling the Sony WH-1000XM5 for months, waiting for a reason to finally pull the trigger, this might be it. The headphones just dropped to $245, down from $292 — and that price includes the matching hard case. No separate accessory purchase, no hidden add-ons. Just the headphones, the case, and a deal that makes a flagship pair feel a lot more reachable. ### What You Actually Get for the Money Let's be clear about what's in the box, because this is where the value really shows up. - Active noise cancellation with four microphones on each earcup - Hi-Res Audio support with LDAC wireless streaming - Up to 30 hours of battery life - A matching hard case for travel and storage - A lightweight build at just 8.8 ounces That last point matters more than people give it credit for. Under nine ounces means you can wear these through a full workday or a cross-country flight without your ears feeling like they've been in a vise. ### The Noise Cancelling Does the Heavy Lifting Here's the thing about the XM5 — the Auto NC Optimizer adjusts to your environment automatically. Train car hum, a loud open-plan office, the drone of a plane cabin — it reads the room and tunes itself accordingly. You don't have to fiddle with settings mid-commute. Once things go quiet, the audio side takes over. The precision-engineered driver unit sharpens high-frequency detail, and LDAC carries high-resolution audio wirelessly from your device. It's the kind of setup that makes you notice things in songs you've heard a hundred times. ### Comfort and Stamina for the Long Haul Plush ear cushions and an adjustable headband keep the fit tailored, and the 30-hour battery means you're not hunting for a charger halfway through a trip. That's more than a full day of travel, easily. Calls hold up too. Precise Voice Pickup Technology and AI-based noise reduction isolate your voice and cut wind noise, so you sound clear even outdoors. You can also pair two Bluetooth devices at once — laptop and phone sharing the same headphones, no reconnecting dance required. ### The Smart Stuff That Just Works Adaptive Sound Control, Speak-to-Chat, and Quick Attention Mode are all here, plus a customizable EQ if you like shaping the sound yourself. Swift Pair makes connecting to Windows 10 and 11 devices painless. > "A flagship pair at this price, with the case included, is the kind of deal that doesn't stay live for long." ### The Bottom Line At $245 with the hard case bundled in, the Sony WH-1000XM5 checks a lot of boxes — noise cancelling, hi-res audio, 30-hour battery, and comfort that holds up over long sessions. If you've been comparing options for everyday use, this is a genuinely strong moment to commit.
