We all need apps. They speed things up, usually cover all devices, and provide informative, fun, and productive solutions for practically every user. Businesses develop apps for existing customers and to attract new clients – a well-developed app designed for a target audience is savvy advertising.
This means there’s a downside, too. There are millions of apps out there. Some are reviewed by multiple users, some – no matter how good – fail to reach the masses. Many users follow the advice of others, looking at stars on Google Play, Amazon Appstore, F-Droid, and Apple App Store. Others follow top app blogs before downloading the apps that interest them.
Whether you have developed an app and want to find the right platform to place it in the spotlight or want to find one or two addresses that you can refer to when looking for the latest apps, navigating your way through the huge number of online options is a daunting task. That’s why we at Webmaster Reviews have put together a list of the Top 10 App Blogs for 2021. These known and lesser-known blogs provide easy search options, regular updates, and trustworthy information. We’ve also included interesting links for app developers who want to get their latest apps ranked high.

A well designed, visual site with simple search capabilities that lets you decide which is the best app to download in 2021.

You’ll have to find the expanded menu of the reviews tab to arrive on The Verge app reviews pages. One of the larger tech all-in-one sites on the web, The Verge includes great info about both Android and iOS applications. Most of these reviews are in true blog form and well-written – for example, the “I Let Strangers Design My Apartment” blog looks at various interior design apps and is a great example of just how helpful and entertaining a properly-researched, non-bog standard review can be. The only problem is that there aren’t nearly enough app blogs on The Verge – this article was written halfway through January 2021 and they still haven’t added the first app blog of the year.

Select one of 28 categories for Android apps or 21 categories of games. Alternatively, add your app to the catalogue – all you have to do is provide your app URL and AppsZoom will generate the profile.

148Apps began listing iOS apps in 2008. While the website’s design seems a little outdated, don’t let that put you off. A lesser-known but huge source that concentrates solely on Apple device applications, 148Apps is worth adding to your bookmark. Don’t expect wordy reviews or scores on the thousands of app descriptions – most of these are descriptions given by the developer. However, the site’s top lists, how-to’s (for a little fun, try Build Your Own Apple Arcade), tips and news are also worth a good browse. If only 148Apps also included Android app reviews, this could be anyone’s one-stop shop to see what apps are out there. For marketers, the 148Apps URL shortening service means your links will fit in the often limited social media message wordcount.

This review site is primarily a platform for app promotion (aren’t they all?) but offers more than a simple star rating. Either advertise your latest tools and games or search for more information on the type of apps you want on your mobile devices. While we have to admit that a few of the reviews are a bit heavy on generic word-filling techniques, you will still get to know your options on a deeper level. And although you won’t find every app on WebAppRater, reviews and blogs seem to be very up to date. We recommend you stick to broader search terms to find the most recent information.

For developers of Android apps, AppBrain offers a solution for every marketing step. Founded by former Google engineers who have enjoyed great success with their own apps and games, there’s little they don’t know about Android in 2021. While you won’t find lists of popular apps on this site, you will find a top range of tools that are geared to app promotion and monetization. Use lesser-known open source software? No problem – co-founders Matthijs and Uwe have plenty of experience. Even better, their tools and devkits are quick to install and use.

Submit your apps or find out about the latest apps on this Australian-based website that has become an app platform for developers and users across the globe. Regularly updated but rather limited in search options (a single search bar or click on popular tags), FeedMyApp is a bit picky when it comes to publishing app blogs. While some might make reading a little uncomfortable for the less patient grammar nerds, at FeedMyApp, content counts. And the blogs are more than basic reviews. You will find iOS and Android app blogs here, but make sure you scroll through the latest apps – this site has been going for some time and older blogs don’t seem to be updated or taken down.

The voluntary team at Gizmo’s Freeware reviews and tests a huge array of apps, giving detailed descriptions, ratings and reviews. Not only are iOS and Android apps included but also Windows apps – something many app blogs tend to ignore. Even better, the apps that find themselves reviewed at Gizmo’s are free to download, although of course many of these will have paid components. You will also find free software, ebooks and audiobooks here, as well as an active forum for all of your app and software-related questions. There’s plenty for Linux users, too.
